It’s been that way from the beginning. Since 2005, we’ve cultivated a team of adventurists with an exclusive focus on adventure travel, outdoor sports. All are specialists in areas of marketing communication and together, we bring an uncommon level of passion and the best practices to our work. We engage with an in-depth knowledge of sports that unlocks brand insights and help us develop compelling campaigns designed to move consumers to purchase. Our response to “what did you do this weekend?” is answered in miles, vertical feet and personal bests. It’s not a contest. It’s just who we are.
Fred Hammerquist, our founder and creative director, is a lifelong adventure junkie who balances his pursuits with the design and advertising business. Fred has developed strategic and brand creative work for clients like The North Face, K2 Sports, Polartec, Petzl, Precor, Ridley & Zipp. Over the past few years Fred has finished the Canadian Ironman triathlon, ridden the Tour of Flanders course, paddled the Sea of Cortez, climbed Mt. Rainier round trip in 13 hours and hiked across the Basque land of Spain.
Keith joined the Hammerquist team after a six-year stint with Outdoor Research. His position as Web Marketing Manager for OR gave him comprehensive experience with full-cycle web development. From design/architecture and back-end integration to large-scale commerce support and online marketing. Keith is a ski and bike junkie. He makes annual trips to the Whistler Blackcomb mountain bike park, and recently ski-toured the Haute Route.
After freelancing at the studio on and off for the past few years, we finally convinced John to join us full time! For the past 3 years he has been the Creative Director for Ex Officio where he designed everything from major ad campaigns to consumer brand books, as well as developed and implemented a very successful brand strategy and visual identity. He has led design efforts for Cutter & Buck, The National Park Service, Sage Fly Fishing, Weatherby and Smartwool. When John's not in front of his screen he spends time with his wife and daughter in West Seattle and shredding single track in the Cascades.
Dave is a comprehensive brand strategist, with planning and research experience for clients like The North Face, Cascade Designs, Holland America Cruise Line, Kirkwood Ski Resort, K2 Skis, Polartec and SmartWool. In addition to his strategic work, Dave now spends his time working for Outward Bound as a mountaineering instructor, for North Cascades Mountain Guides as a top rope slinger, and can be found sampling powder as often as possible at North Cascade Heli in the winters.
Peter joined the studio after 10 years with Outdoor Research, where he started on the loading doc and worked his way up to Web Operations Analyst. His years at OR gave him all the chops needed to join us as our Senior Developer. In addition to hiking, backpacking and snowboarding, he also has a thing for bikes. He spent a few years frame-building and wrenching bikes while riding dozens of century rides – including STP in one day. But his true center is spending time with his wife and daughter.
Jordan earned his Web Design & Development degree at BYU. He also loves dabbling in photography, music and audio engineering. He was born and raised in Southern Idaho, which gave him years of experience snowboarding, climbing, camping, & fly fishing. When not crunching code at the studio he spends time with his wife and son.
Syd cut her teeth designing and producing retail catalogs for Nordstrom. Over the past seven years at Hammerquist she has kept us on time and on budget across a range of projects, from packaging to high-end collateral. As a marathoner, cyclist, skier, kayaker and backpacker, Syd maintains a high level of appreciation for the focus of the agency.
Equal parts project manager and production designer, Dylan relishes creative and strategic problem-solving and beating deadlines. Before joining H Studios, he paid his dues in the design community of the Big Apple, managing everything from 300-page technical catalogs to dynamic websites, always with a keen eye for the details, both creative and administrative. He spends his free time running, cycling, backpacking, snowboarding, and brewing beer from scratch.
Brenda comes to us with a background in interactive program management and provides structure and support for the overall vision of client and agency efforts. The challenges of a new project keep her going - with a drive to understand each set of unique client business goals and strategic project needs. Plus, the collaboration with the project team to drive the solution and the schedule is fun! (or so she says) Brenda chases her kids around on the slopes or the soccer field, beach or mountain.
Erin was already family as a client before she joined the studio. Over the last ten years Erin has worked in brand marketing for K2 and Stanley. Brandishing a right/left brain split, she’s both a stickler for details and a contributor to strategic creative projects. With her husband, she pushes the limits on multi-day alpine touring and mountain bike trips, and races cyclocross.
Lillian, fresh out of the University of Washington, is an organizational nut. She started as our admin assistant, and is also moving into project management. Her zeal for travel (17 countries and two years living in France) has allowed her to ‘get outside’ in several countries, including snowboarding the Alps, and kayaking Interlaken, Switzerland. When not at work she spends time with friends camping, hiking and snowboarding. Secret talent: jewelry making.

This is a full time staff position, and would begin in January, 2015. Project mix includes print and digital ads, visual & UX design for websites, creative campaign concepts, print and digital catalogs, brand identity, POP pieces, and html e-mail. Visual Designer will be responsible for production work, as well as design.
